Sharing Jesus Starts With One Small Step

Naranasan mo na rin ba ‘yung feeling na gusto mong mag-share ng faith mo, but you're unsure if you're really ready? Hindi ka nag-iisa. Many of us hesitate—maybe because we’re afraid we’ll mess it up, unsure of what to say, or worried about how people will respond. But what if God isn’t asking for perfection? What if right now, just as you are, is exactly where God wants to start?
Recently, someone from the yesHEis community, Bella*, shared how she faced her fear of talking about Jesus—and what happened when she said “yes” to God. Sumali siya sa “Overcome Your Fear” challenge, asking God for courage: to be real, to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit, and to boldly share His love with someone new.
Here’s how God worked through that moment of vulnerability and faith…
Sa simula pa lang ng challenge, ipinag-pray talaga ni Bella na makita yung pagmamahal ni Jesus sa buhay niya. She asked the Holy Spirit to guide her in sharing her story—not just with confidence, but in a way that would truly connect with someone who needed to know Him.
One morning during prayer, Bella felt a quiet prompting to reach out to her new neighbor — someone she had only briefly talked to before. Kahit nahihiya siya, she invited her out for coffee, and chose to trust God with the conversation.
Letting the Spirit Lead
Over coffee, Bella asked a simple question: “Naniniwala ka ba sa Diyos?” To her surprise, her neighbor said yes—she had even started praying recently, asking for help during difficult seasons. Her neighbor owned a Bible but didn’t know where to start or how to grow in her faith.
Doon shinare ni Bella yung story niya — she talked about how Jesus gives her peace, especially during moments of prayer. She also shared a bit about her quiet time routine — how she spends time reading the Bible and talking to God in prayer. “First time ko to share my faith with someone” sabi ng neighbor niya. She said their conversation was touching, and she felt safe and seen. It really opened the door for more honest and meaningful conversations between them. Bella left that conversation encouraged, committed to praying for her new friend’s faith journey.
What might happen if you overcame your fear?
Bella’s story is a beautiful reminder that we don’t need to have all the answers—we just need to be willing and faithful to follow God’s prompting. The Holy Spirit doesn’t ask us to have everything figured out; He just asks us to be available.
Are you feeling unsure or afraid to share Jesus too? Don’t worry—you’re not alone. And we’re here to help. Here's some things you can consider:
1. Pray for Courage and Sensitivity:
Pray and ask the Holy Spirit to help you see others the way God sees them—and to give you the courage to respond when He prompts you to act.
2. Take a Small Step:
Evangelism doesn’t need to be overwhelming. Sometimes, it starts with a simple question—about what they believe about God, how they understand sin, or what they think about what Jesus did on the Cross. As we listen with genuine curiosity, we create space for honest conversation. Our role isn’t to pressure, but to gently point them to the truth of what Jesus has done—and invite them to consider their response to that truth.
3. Trust the Outcome to God:
Your role is obedience; God takes care of the outcome. And remember, you don’t have to carry the pressure of convincing or converting someone right away. That’s not what faith conversations are about. It’s not about instant results—it’s about walking with people, showing up in love, and trusting that God is already at work in their hearts, even if you don’t see it right away. When you step out in obedience, the Holy Spirit steps in with power. In 1 Corinthians 3:6-7 (NIV) it says: "I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow. So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.”
So take heart. You don’t need to do it perfectly. You just need to do it faithfully. God is ready to work through your simple acts of obedience. Take the step today and watch how He weaves your story into someone else’s journey of coming home to Him.
